Hyperhidrosis is a condition defined by excessive sweating that affects individuals, regardless of environmental conditions. Excessive sweating can lead to unwanted skin irritations and can have many adverse effects that are a detriment to the quality of a person’s everyday life.
What is used to treat Hyperhidrosis?
The most effective treatment method for excessive sweating is Anti-Wrinkle Injections. The treatment is fast and non-invasive. Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used to treat hyperhidrosis located in the armpits (axillary). The anti-wrinkle injections inhibit the nerve signals of the sweat glands that they are inserted into, causing a dramatic reduction in perspiration. Although sweating is the body’s natural mechanism for regulating body temperature, the armpits contain only a fraction of the body’s total sweat glands and preventing them from sweating rarely leads to increased sweating in other regions of the body.
What does the treatment involve?
This treatment is performed in chair and takes 15-30min. Your injector will map out the main areas of concern and a small amount of the prescribed product being administered into the arm pits. The injections may sting for a few seconds, but no anaesthetic is required.
How many treatments will I need?
1 treatment of anti-wrinkle every 4-6 months is recommended.
How long will the results last?
It must be noted that anti-wrinkle injections are not a permanent solution to hyperhidrosis. The injections will effectively control your sweating for up to 6 months, with some patients reporting the treatment lasting beyond this, but it varies from patient to patient. Your underarm sweat levels will steadily improve, and you will typically see optimal results around 2 weeks after your treatment session. Additional treatment sessions are required to ensure continued dryness. With successive treatments, we will often be able to regulate your sweating.
What does the treatment cost?
from $1050
Who can have this treatment?
Anyone above the age of 18 looking to slow sweating. This treatment is not suitable to have while pregnant or nursing. Patients may experience bruising, swelling, redness or tenderness at the point of injection.
Pre and Post Care Information
It is also advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to heat, cold, and sun for up to two weeks following your injections. Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, green tea, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen and NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
