If your concerns include upper face lines, wrinkles of expression such as frown lines (11’s), horizontal forehead lines and crows’ feet, you might benefit from antiwrinkle injections. Antiwrinkle injections involve the injection of a muscle relaxing agent (Botulinum Toxin type A) into specific facial muscles. The injections cause a weakening of the targeted muscles, decreasing muscle contraction and strength, and hence minimising the appearance of lines/wrinkles in these areas.
The most common area we treat with antiwrinkle injections at That Face Place is the glabellar complex, or the ‘frown lines’.
The glabellar complex consists of the procerus and corrugator muscles. These muscles contract inwards and downward to create the furrow between eyebrows. By relaxing these muscles, we can reduce the appearance of vertical frown lines. Another popular area to treat with antiwrinkle injections is the frontalis muscle which is responsible for lifting eyebrows and the formation of horizontal forehead lines. By injecting antiwrinkle injections into this muscle we can decrease the appearance of horizontal forehead lines. The crows’ feet or smile lines are caused by the contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle, which runs circumferentially around each eye. Antiwrinkle injections can also be used to treat bunny lines (the lines on the side of the nose), upper lip lines, masseters, dimpled chin, downturned mouth corners, and a gummy smile.
If your facial aesthetic concerns include overall facial volume loss, ‘sagginess’, a sunken appearance, under eye hollowing, thin lips, or a poorly defined jawline then dermal filler may be the treatment best suited to you. Dermal filler injections involve the administration of a hyalauronic acid based gel into areas of the face to restore or create volume, or to enhance features.
Cheek filler, or midface filler, is the cornerstone of facial volume restoration and is generally the first area we consider treating in the ageing client. Younger clients can also benefit from cheek filler, to glamorise their face, and to create highly desirable facial contouring.
Lip filler injections are used to increase the size, enhance the shape, or improve the appearance and texture of the lips. We can also use lip filler to correct asymmetries, or to achieve greater balance in facial proportions.
Chin filler can be used to lengthen or project a client’s chin, helping to balance the profile and harmonise the face. Chin filler can often also help with the appearance of a ‘fat pocket’ under the chin.
Marionette line filler can decrease the depth of marionette lines, which are the lines that form vertically beneath the corners of the mouth. Marionette lines can give the appearance of a sad look, and lessening the appearance of these lines will help client to look more youthful, and less ‘sad’ looking.
Tear trough filler involves the administration of a very tiny amount of specialised dermal filler into the under eye hollows to lessen the appearance of tired sunken under eyes.
Dermal filler can also be used in the area surrounding the lips, nasolabial folds, jawline, and temples.
